       The Tikrit Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (TJOPS) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the College of pharmacy, Tikrit University. (TJOPS) is not limited to a specific aspect of science and pharmacy but is instead devoted to a wide range of subfields in the Pharmaceutical sciences. While it encourages a broad spectrum of contribution in the Pharmaceutical sciences, its core interest lies in issues concerning material modeling and response. Articles of interdisciplinary nature are particularly welcome.

 In addition to the pharmacy, Pharmaceutics,Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Drugs and toxins ,ClinicalLaboratorySciences ,DrugsBranch ,ClinicalPharmacy.

 TJOPS was originally published in 2005 with a two issue per year.

 TJOPS invites research papers that encompass conceptual analysis, design implementation and performance evaluation. All papers, submitted for possible publication at TJOPS, are subject to a double-blind check, peer review process, plagiarism and similarity tests. Submissions are accepted only in English . papers should contain title, summary, keywords and key information in English.

The College of Pharmacy, Tikrit University publishes TIKRIT JOURNAL OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES (TJOPS) for the dissemination of original research in all fields of PHARMACEUTICAL . The journal welcomes contributions from all who wishes to report on new developments and latest findings in all fields of pharmacy.

The articles that are sent for reviews will have names of the authors deleted with a view towards enhancing the objectivity and fairness of the review process.

The Journal accepts 7 types of articles defined as follows:

  1. Research Articles: A research article is a regular article which aims to present new findings.
  2. Letters to the Editor: A letter to the editor is a short article which aims to present new findings that require fast publication procedures.
  3. Notes: A note is an article (regular or short) which aims to present rather new findings.
  4. Comments: A comment is a short article that makes comments on another article already published by this Journal or replies to a comment.
  5. Review Articles: A review article is an article which aims to present comprehensively already existing findings.
  6. Lecture Notes: A lecture note is a short review article.
  7. Selected Conference articles: Upon an agreement with a conference committee, selected papers may be published by the Journal in a special section. In this case, the editor will appoint in collaboration with the conference committee guest editors.

The Editors reserve the right to reject papers without sending them out for review.

Authors are advised to observe high standards in the aspect of publication ethics. Any plagiarism (fabrication or falsification of data) are strictly unacceptable practices in TJOPS, including duplicate publication of the author’s work without proper citation.

Every manuscript submitted for publication is checked for plagiarism via Turnitin after submission and before being sent to the editor for editorial review. Any detection of overlapping and similar texts in the manuscripts submitted will be investigated promptly and may lead to the manuscript being rejected.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission’s compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Open Office, Microsoft Word, RTF, or Word Perfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided. Preferred to use EndNote program
  4. The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font A4 papers; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Article Submission: 100.00 (USD)
Authors are required to pay article submission fees as part of the submission process to contribute to review costs. The author can pay half of the fees when submitting the manuscript and the other half after the final acceptance.

 AUTHOR GUIDELINES

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The College of Pharmacy, Tikrit University publish TIKRIT JOURNAL OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES (TJOPS) for the dissemination of original research in all fields of PHARMACEUTICAL . The journal aims to disseminate the latest development and achievements in scientific research to the world’s community. To ensure quality, submission of manuscripts to TJOPS shall be subjected to peer review by an international board of distinguished reviewers. LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

The author(s) guarantee(s) that the manuscript has not been submitted for publication to another journal and it will not be published elsewhere in any language without the consent of the copyright owner, Engineering College, Tikrit University, that the rights of third parties will not be violated, and that neither Engineering College, Tikrit University nor the publisher will be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation. Authors wishing to include figures or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.

Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscript through online submission at http://www.tjo-ps.com or send to tjops@tu.edu.iq . The electronic manuscript shall be prepared in accordance to the “Manuscript Preparation Guide.”

EDITORIAL PROCEDURE

Papers must present scientific results that are essentially new. They have to be written in English using either American or British spelling throughout.  All manuscripts are subject to peer review. Authors should submit their manuscripts to the Editorial Office online to facilitate even quicker and more efficient processing. Manuscripts that are returned to the authors for revision should be sent back within the deadlines; otherwise, they will be considered withdrawn. Rejected manuscripts will not be returned to the authors. Papers that do not conform to the journal norms may be returned to the authors for revision before being considered for publication. The author is responsible for the accuracy of the references.

TYPES OF MANUSCRIPT

TJOPS publishes original research articles, invited review articles, technical notes and technical reports that add significantly to the body of knowledge concerning the science and pharmaceutical.

The Journal accepts 7 types of articles defined as follows:

1-Research Articles: A research article is a regular article which aims to present new findings. Manuscript of Full-length Original Articles should include an abstract (Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusion), Introduction, Experimental Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgment, References, Figure Captions List, and Tables. Graphics, images, and diagrams should be submitted separately in a high-quality original format.

2-Letters to the Editor: A letter to the editor is a short article which aims to present new findings that require fast publication procedures.

3-Technical Notes: A note is an article (regular or short) which aims to present rather new findings. Technical notes do not exceed four printed pages (including figures and tables). They are the appropriate form for new findings, original preliminary results, comments on papers published in the journal, or important new records. A Technical Note should not include an abstract. Technical notes will be reviewed as normal papers.

4-Comments: A comment is a short article that makes comments on another article already published in this Journal or replies to a comment.

5-Review Articles: A review article is an article which aims to present comprehensively already existing findings. Review articles are intended to provide an updated perspective on a certain subject that could be relevant for the readership of the journal. Review articles should include an abstract. Review articles are by invitation only

6-Lecture Notes: A lecture note is a short review article.

7-Selected Conference articles: Upon an agreement with a conference committee, selected papers may be published by the Journal in a special section. In this case, the editor will appoint in collaboration with the conference committee guest editors.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Manuscripts should be submitted using the Editorial manager as the Online Manuscript Submission and tracking system. The manuscript must be prepared using Microsoft Word. A PDF file derived from Word could be used at the initial submission. However, the source files (MS word file) of the revised manuscripts are required, PDF files are not anymore accepted at this stage. High-quality Figures and Tables along with the legends and captions can be provided separately, or at the end of the text, however, authors should indicate the place of their insertions within the text.

A Cover Letter should be submitted as a separate file, to clarify how the article will contribute to the scientific knowledge. A Letter was containing authors’ Point by Point responses to reviewers’ comments in mandatory and should be submitted as a separate file along with the revised manuscripts.

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES

Article Title

The title is CAPITALIZED AND SET IN BOLDFACE (Arial 22 point bold).

Author’s Name and Affiliation

The author’s name(s) follows the title and is left on the page (Arial 12 point bold). Last names should be spelled out in full and succeeded by author’s initials. The author’s affiliation, complete mailing address and e-mail address (all in font size 10 point, Arial), the phone number is provided immediately below the author name.

Maximal length of the abstract is 250 words. No literature references should be contained in the abstract. The abstract should briefly state the objective and approach and give a succinct summary of results and major conclusions drawn in one paragraph and single column. Emphasis should be on what was found, not what was done.

Keywords

The author should provide three to six keywords that clearly describe the subject matter of the paper and after the abstract for indexing purposes. The keywords must arrange alphabetically.

Text

  • The manuscript should be double-spaced using A4 paper.
  • The top margin shall be 17 mm.
  • The bottom margin shall be 15 mm.
  • The left and right margins shall be 20 mm.
  • The text shall have both the left and right margins justified
  • Papers should be written in clear and concise language and consist of major sections and minor sections.
  • Use a normal, plain font (e.g., Times Roman), 10 points for text.
  • For textual emphasis use italic types all that must be in double columns.
  • For indents use tab stops or other commands, not the space bar.
  • Use the table functions of your word processing program, not spreadsheets, to make tables. Tables are referred to in the text by “Table n” (capital T).
  • Place any figure legends or tables at the end of the article.
  • Submit all figures in their original formats and as separate files and kept separate from the text.
  • Figures are referred to in the text by “ n.” (capital F).
  • Indicate the preferred location of each table and figure in the body of the manuscript.

Equations and Mathematical Expressions

Equation numbers should appear in parentheses and be numbered consecutively. All equation numbers must appear on the right-hand side of the equation and should be referred to within the text. Two different types of styles can be used for equations and mathematical expressions. They are in-line style and display style. In-line equations/expressions are embedded in paragraphs of the text. For example, In-line equations should not be numbered. Equations in display format are separated from the paragraphs of text. The equation should be flushed to the centered of the column. For example:

Fractional powers should be used instead of root signs. A slash (/) should be used instead of a horizontal line for fractions, whenever possible; for example, use 2/3 for two-thirds. Refer to equations in the text as “Eq. (1)” or, if at the beginning of a sentence, as ” Equation (1)”.

Using space before and after equation 6 points.

 Abbreviations

Abbreviations should be defined at first mention in the abstract and again in the main body of the text and used consistently after that. A list of symbols should follow the abstract if such a list is needed. Symbols must be written clearly. The international system of units (SI units) should be used. Essential footnotes to the text should be numbered consecutively and placed at the bottom of the page to which they refer.

Conclusion

A conclusion section must be included and should conclude on the findings of the reported work. There shall be no discussion about results or analysis in this section.

Acknowledgments

An acknowledgment section may be presented after the conclusion if desired. This section shall be kept brief, acknowledging the support rendered by individuals, departments, and organization.

References

References should be cited in the text in the forms: [1], [1, 2], [1-6]. They should be listed and numbered in their order of citation in the text, not by name and date.

The list of references should include only works that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. ‘‘Personal communications’’ or ‘‘Unpublished data’’ should only be mentioned in the text if available the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) can be added at the end of the reference in question.

References should be numbered in the order in which they appeared in the text and listed in numerical order. References with correct punctuation should be styled as follows:

Citation

Reference citations in the text should be identified by numbers in square brackets. Some examples:

  1. Negotiation research spans many disciplines [3].
  2. This result was later contradicted by Becker and Seligman [5].
  3. This effect has been widely studied [1-3, 7].

References list

The list of references should only include works that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. Personal communications and unpublished works should only be mentioned in the text. Do not use footnotes or endnotes as a substitute for a reference list

Peer review is a critical element of scholarly publication, and one of the major cornerstones of the scientific process. Peer Review serves two key functions:

Publication Ethics

For a peer-reviewed journal, the publication of articles plays an essential role in the development of a coherent network of knowledge. It is, therefore, essential that all publishers, editors, authors, and reviewers, in the process of publishing the journals, conduct themselves in accordance with the highest level of professional ethics and standards.

Publisher’s Responsibilities

We follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)’s Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers (  PDF ). The publisher is dedicated to supporting the vast efforts of the editors, the academic contributions of authors, and the respected volunteer work undertaken by reviewers. The publisher is also responsible for ensuring that the publication system works smoothly, and that ethical guidelines are applied to assist the editor, author, and reviewer in performing their ethical duties.

Editor’s Responsibilities

We follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)’s Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors (  PDF ). In addition, some key points are listed below. The editor should acknowledge receipt of submitted manuscripts within two working days of receipt and ensure an efficient, fair, and timely review process. The editor should ensure that submitted manuscripts are processed in a confidential manner, and that no content of the manuscripts will be disclosed to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher, as appropriate.The editor should recuse himself or herself from processing manuscripts if he or she has any conflict of interest with any of the authors or institutions related to the manuscripts. The editor should not disclose the names and other details of the reviewers to a third party without the permission of the reviewers. The editor has the right to make the final decision on whether to accept or reject a manuscript with reference to the significance, originality, and clarity of the manuscript and its relevance to the journal. The editor should by no means make any effort to oblige the authors to cite his or her journal either as an implied or explicit condition of accepting their manuscripts for publication. The editor should not use for his or her own research any part of any data or work reported in submitted and as yet unpublished articles. The editor should respond promptly and take reasonable measures when an ethical complaint occurs concerning a submitted manuscript or a published paper, and the editor should immediately contact and consult with the author. In this case, a written formal retraction or correction may also be required.

Reviewer’s Responsibilities

We follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)’s COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers (  PDF). In addition, some key points are listed below. The reviewer who feels unqualified to review the assigned manuscript or affirms that he or she cannot meet the deadline for completion of the review should immediately notify the editor and excuse himself or herself from the process of reviewing this manuscript. The reviewer should inform the editor and recuse himself or herself from reviewing the manuscript if there is a conflict of interest. Specifically, the reviewer should recuse himself or herself from reviewing any manuscript authored or coauthored by a person with whom the reviewer has an obvious personal or academic relationship, if the relationship could introduce bias or the reasonable perception of bias. The reviewer should treat the manuscript in a confidential manner. The manuscript should not be disclosed to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor. The reviewer should approach the peer-review job objectively. Personal criticism of the author is unacceptable. The reviewer should not use for his or her own research any part of any data or work reported in submitted and as yet unpublished articles. The reviewer should immediately notify the editor of any similarities between the manuscript under review and another paper either published or under consideration by another journal. The reviewer should immediately call to the editor’s attention a manuscript containing plagiarized material or falsified data.

Author’s Responsibilities

The author should not submit concurrent manuscripts (or manuscripts essentially describing the same subject matter) to multiple journals. Likewise, an author should not submit any paper previously published anywhere to the journals for consideration. The publication of articles on specific subject matter, such as clinical guidelines and translations, in more than one journal is acceptable if certain conditions are met. The author should present a precise and brief report of his or her research and an impartial description of its significance. The author should honestly gather and interpret his or her research data. Publishers, editors, reviewers, and readers are entitled to request the author to provide the raw data for his or her research for convenience of editorial review and public access. If practicable, the author should retain such data for any possible use after publication. The author should guarantee that the works he or she has submitted are original. If the author has used work and/or words by others, appropriate citations are required. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

The author should indicate explicitly all sources that have supported the research and also declare any conflict(s) of interest. The author should give due acknowledgement to all of those who have made contributions to the research. Those who have contributed significantly to the research should be listed as coauthors. The author should ensure that all coauthors have affirmed the final version of the paper and have agreed on its final publication. The author should promptly inform the journal editor of any obvious error(s) in his or her published paper and cooperate earnestly with the editor in retraction or correction of the paper. If the editor is notified by any party other than the author that the published paper contains an obvious error, the author should write a retraction or make the correction based on the medium of publication.
